Heat Utilization
In cogeneration plants, both the thermal energy and the electrical energy are utilized. Depending on the application, the overall efficiency can reach more than 90 percent. Two types of heat are available during operation from the engine's exhaust gas: coolant heat and heat energy.
The heat results from the thermal heat, process heat, and service water heating. These types of heat can be integrated in existing heating systems and infrastructures. Buffer storage can be used to separate the power production from the heat utilization. Industrial processes run on saturated steam generated from exhaust gas energy. In this context, heat can be extracted concurrently from the coolant for heating purposes.
